From a mooring in the bay, guests can watch the sunset over the Caribbean before heading ashore for dinner, cocktails and live music in one of the Grenadines' most famous settings.

Beyond Britannia Bay, Mustique is renowned for a coastline of contrasting beaches and secluded coves. Macaroni Beach sweeps across the Atlantic-facing east coast, while Pasture Bay offers a wilder setting and Lagoon, Gelliceaux and Endeavour provide calmer stretches of water in suitable conditions. Access for visiting yacht guests is controlled because Mustique is a private island, so charter crews should confirm current shore permissions before planning excursions beyond Britannia Bay.

Britannia Bay is the designated arrival point for visiting yachts. The approach is generally straightforward in good visibility, but the reefs bordering Mustique require careful navigation and current charts. Cruising guidance notes that the former beacon marking Montezuma Reef has been replaced by a small red and black buoy, making attentive visual navigation particularly important on approach. Visiting yachts should contact the Mustique Moorings Office before arrival on VHF Channel 16 or 68 to confirm availability and receive mooring instructions.

Mustique operates differently from many other Grenadine islands because yacht access is tightly managed. Britannia Bay is the only designated yacht mooring area, and current cruising guidance states that anchoring elsewhere around the island is prohibited. Captains should therefore plan around an allocated Britannia Bay mooring rather than selecting an independent anchorage elsewhere along Mustique's coastline.

Britannia Bay is Mustique's principal and effectively exclusive yacht anchorage. Mooring buoys are operated by The Mustique Company, and visiting yachts are expected to contact the moorings team before arrival for allocation. A landing jetty and dinghy dock provide convenient access ashore, with Basil's Bar, shops, food supplies and other services concentrated around the waterfront.

If the official moorings are full, anchoring may occasionally be permitted in Britannia Bay under instructions from the local moorings team. Independent anchoring elsewhere around Mustique is not permitted. The bay provides useful protection from the prevailing easterly trade winds, although captains should continue to monitor swell and local conditions throughout the stay.

Mustique is owned and managed by The Mustique Company, which oversees the island's development, services, security and carefully controlled private environment. Development has intentionally remained limited, helping preserve an unusual combination of luxury villas, tropical vegetation and relatively undeveloped coastline. The island's best-known establishments include The Cotton House and Basil's Bar, while Lovell is the principal local village near Britannia Bay.

Mustique has nine contrasting beaches, ranging from the Atlantic surf and sweeping white sand of Macaroni Beach to calmer Caribbean-facing shores. Because every visitor arriving by land, air or sea is registered and access around the private island can be controlled, yacht charter guests should ask their captain or local authorities what areas are open to visiting yachts during their stay.
